ASUS BIOS update: model, power and recovery-key checks

Update only with a BIOS file for the exact device and follow its official procedure. Prepare power and recovery access before starting; a newer version number alone is not an update plan.

Applies to: The notebook, all-in-one, gaming handheld and MiniPC workflows described by ASUS. It is not a motherboard flashback guide or a universal downgrade procedure.

Prepare before starting

  1. Confirm the complete model and installed BIOS version. Check the intended update against the model-specific support page.
  2. Back up personal files and make your BitLocker or device-encryption recovery key accessible. ASUS warns that recovery access may be requested after updating.
  3. Read the official guide and package notes for the applicable interface and preparation method.
  4. Keep AC power connected. For the battery-powered procedure described in the linked guide, ASUS specifies at least 20% battery charge.

Stop before an unsafe start

Stop if the model or file identity is uncertain, you cannot access recovery information, power is unreliable, or the tool rejects the file. Do not rename a file to force it through a check. Do not use a different model or a downgrade attempt as a workaround.

During the update

Use the official steps for your interface. Keep power connected and do not force a shutdown while flashing. If the process or screen differs from the instructions, seek model-specific ASUS support rather than improvising.
